Contact your City Council member and advocate for the Library

The Wichita City Council is finalizing the 2026-2027 budget and we need your help to ensure the library remains a vibrant community resource.

The Library recently remodeled and expanded all seven locations, completing the Branch Master Plan the City Council approved in 2017. One omission in the city’s budget is adequate Library staffing.

The recent facility expansions cannot be fully supported or sustainably operated without the staff required to service them, even with a robust network of partners and volunteers already in place. 

Without proper funding, the Library will likely need to reduce operating hours in 2027. 

Here’s where we need help. The City Council will be voting on the budget in August. What you can do:

Email the City Council: Send a quick note to your city council representative and share why the library is important to you. Feel free to personalize this template and send to your representative. 

Spread the Word: Forward this email to a family member, friend or neighbor who is a library lover and ask them to help.
